The Rise of the Sleeping Giant

The United Kingdom of KingIsaac(UKKI) was focused on one thing today - the State of the Kingdom Address to be given by President Abraham.

President Abraham has been the president for almost a decade. Since the beginning of his term, UKKI was rapidly growing its economy and its military. UKKI's GDP rose from $3 trillion to $15.8 trillion. It was due to the intensive efforts of the UKKI government to improve the already thriving economy of UKKI. The President partnered with the wealthiest businessmen in UKKI to create more jobs by creating more businesses and factories. The businessmen were pampered with tax cuts by the government. It also didn't hurt that since the beginning of his term, President Abraham had created 34 major corporations and 67 companies. 70% of the profits of the businesses of the President goes to the government.

The businessmen themselves had a role in shaping UKKI. The businessmen improved everything in UKKI, especially things President Abraham had neglected. The government partnered with the private sector causing for "economy generators" and tons of infrastructures to be built.

Maynila, the capital city, underwent a major rehabilitation. It is now very modern and even futuristic. The capital city alone earns almost a trillion euros. It is considered as the best city in Tiberiam, with the tallest building and the largest mall in it. But all cities are rich and very competitive. The city considered to be the poorest earns $400 billion annually. Isaacians felt luxury than ever. That is why the crime rate is low and the average life span of an Isaacian is 90 years.

UKKI's military is not left behind. The Armed Forces of UKKI bought only the best gears and equipment for the soldiers. Anything that is sub-standard struck them as a physical blow.

As of this moment, the most important leaders and personalities in UKKI was in the Parliament. They were all eagerly anticipating the arrival of the President, who will give the speech today.

"All rise. Let us welcome His Excellency President Abraham, President of United Kingdom of KingIsaac" Chief Justice Antonio shouted. It signaled the arrival of the President Everyone happily obeyed.

The President walked to the Speaker's table and stood there. He smiled at the people, then he started to say his speech:

"My dear citizens,

It is undeniable that UKKI is one of Tiberiam's superpower. We are a superpower not just because of our military might but also because of our economy. It is the reason why not a single nation, not even Isis Rakael, stood against us. Isis Rakael might be more powerful than us militarily, but not economically. Oscalantine is slightly better than us economically, but trust me it's not militarily. Now, we just have to make sure these 2 nations won't join forces or else we might be an underdog.

I would like to reminisce the past of our world, Tiberiam. We were considered as one of the Big three, with Oscalantine and Rasvidi. We were always keeping each other in check to make sure no abuse of power shall take place. But now, Rasvidi, a close ally and the nation on par with us, is not a superpower anymore. It's not even considered a Tiberiam's power. It is now a 3rd world nation, which saddens me.

Back to the present, there is still the Big 3. The members are: Oscalantine, for being an economic giant; Isis Rakael, for being a military superpower; and UKKI, our beloved nation, who is both an economic giant and a military superpower.

Peace has reigned in Tiberiam for a while. But with the rise of new nations and the downfall of the mighty ones, we must be prepared. We must arm ourselves with economic programs/policies and war equipments.

Towards that goal, I am hereby declaring the Arms Manufacturing Industry to be our main industry, followed by Technology Industry. By creating our own weapons and equipments, we are not only sure of its quality but we are also sure that we are providing jobs to millions of Isaacians. We are also proving jobs to our scientists, teachers, accountants, bankers, etc.

I shall end this speech, but this is just a beginning. A beginning of the rise of the sleeping giant. UKKI shall be the most powerful superpower in Tiberiam, and that shall be the pride of our nation."

The speech ended and the people gave the President a standing ovation. The speech was something that will surely be used by professors in teaching political science.

By the virtue of a Presidential Decree, conventional vehicles are banned in KingIsaac. As a result, UKKI will stop importing vehicles from Oscalantine, HESS, and other countries. HESS, as an ally, will be given the right to export military equipments.

The opposition said that it will hurt the authomobile manufacturing industry of UKKI, but they were proven wrong.

The foreign companies in UKKI who were making conventional vehicles, vehicles that are powered by gas, have been forced to shut down. It means that UKKI's automobile companies are the only automobile industries in the whole UKKI. The reason is that UKKI's companies creates water-fueled vehicles, not gas-fueled vehicles. It doesn't only helped the economy but also the environment.

More UKKI companies started to open, taking the former place of the foreign companies. It improved the over-all economy UKKI and its effect on the ordinary masses can be felt. Prices started going down slightly, especially fares in buses and taxis.

"This is just a step forward" Secretary Dane was quoted saying.

Scientists at the University of Kolbertiko have recently invented a marvelous machine which distills any water-based liquid into pure water, despite whatever impurities or toxins were in the original fluid. Buckets of swamp water, urine, and heavy metal-laced water come out the other end as distilled water without a trace of impurity.

The Soviet Socialist Republic of Lenyo wishes to outfit these machines for KingIsaac's water-fueled cars, as they could be an immense convenience for any traveler. Also, whenever these machines are produced, Lenyo would be interested in purchasing some for its swamp regions.

Mass production of the universal water filters are being arranged now.

The Department of Trade and Industry has assured the Soviet Socialist Republic of Lenyo that UKKI will buy the water filters. KingIsaacian scientists are already on the process of researching how they could integrate the water filter into the water-fueled vehicles.

The Republic has begun mass producing thousands of Dong Feng 21 missiles to augment Lenyoan defenses. However, the most difficult aspect of the project is the creation of the extraordinarily advanced missile guidance systems. The SSRL wishes to utilize the technological savvy of the United Kingdom to achieve this. A fund of one billion pesos has been set aside for all expenses necessary to produce the missile defenses, and said fund will be expanded if deemed prudent.
