Desk of Da Wheel

Desk of Da Wheel Wheel-Of-Misfortune

As you approach the desk, you cannot help but the feel ominous feelings surrounding the hallway, as if the dark side of Oscalantine's imagination creeped upon your back. You resist the urge to flee and approach a little room at the end of the hallway that everyone seems to avoid.

As you approach the ominous, chewed-up wooden door, less and less people walk around you. You take a look back and see the white-themed Office of Secretary of Culture buzzing on by, trying their best to ignore the dark hallway that you are standing on. Eve the automated robots, the oh-so-many creations of Oscalantine created solely for the purpose of making his life better, also seems to be avoiding this place, as you notice that they take a long way around the hallway instead of directly heading to their destination. How very inefficient of them...

Just as you were pondering why the most efficient beings in Tiberiam is taking such an inefficient route, you hear the little room's door slam open as someone quickly leaves the room. You instantly recognize the person: he is a friendly nation next door. He has awesome economy and growing military power in Tiberiam, who was giddy after SoC approving his latest invention. However, he was far from giddy. He ran past you with tears and scream, holding a messy pile of folder in between his right arm. Two of the papers fell as he bumped against you. You reach down and grab the papers for your friend, but your friend is too far away to respond to your call. You decide to look at the papers anyways.

... volcano... accompanied by earthquake of magnitude 11.5.

Cold sweat rolls down your back and you swallow hard. What on earth was going on was beyond you. However, you soon realize what have happened when your secretary makes an urgent call to you: your friend next door was hit by a natural disaster. When you ask what kind of natural disaster it is, you hear exactly what you expected, but wished as hard as you can it won't be so.

Volcano eruption, followed by earthquake of magnitude 11.5, unheard of in history of ever.

You hesitate from making another step forward. The battered door, which was open until a moment ago, is now closed. You decide to take a step back, but it seems like your body is moving on its own. You start to irresistibly walk towards the little, black room. As you walk, you could swear that you are hearing a rolling sound of a wheel... the one you would hear in "Wheel of Fortune" show that you enjoy so much.

You, against your will, turn the battered doorknob to the room with chewed-up plank that says "Desk of Da Wheel." in voodoo-y letters. You open the door, and you are greeted with complete darkness.

"Welcome, Dear Sir, Welcome to Da Game."

PostSubject: Re: Desk of Da Wheel   Desk of Da Wheel EmptyThu Aug 04, 2011 6:02 am

In order to get the ID for registration for Da Wheel, you MUST have requested and obtained database subforum for your nation. Your nation must also be an active participant of the Roleplay community, indicating that banned, inactive, or expired nations will not be counted in this system.

0. No one
1. Some NPC
2. Lenyo
3. Fideliara
4. Civa-Orchestra
5. Hijjma
6. Oscalantine
7. Re-roll

For dramatic reasons... I'll save rolling who is the victim for the last. But if we get zero... the magic that we have been saving is not going to happen... Sad

DISASTROUS Events

These will be DISASTROUS events that the number generator will roll for. Keep in mind that these will ALWAYS be subjected to changes.

Also keep in mind that The magnitudes are EXPONENTIAL, like magnitudes in Seismic scales. This means that magnitude 60 will still not be as bad, but magnitude 100 will be biblical disaster.

Also keep in mind that more prepared your nation is to certain disasters, (Like... more preparation to tsunami and the likes) the more chance that the event will yield to be harmless. Likewise, the more prepared your nation is to certain boons, (Like... having a massive art institute when a great artist is recognized) the better the boon's yield will be)

Also keep in mind that certain events could be proven to be unable for one country (ex. A landlocked country having Tsunami). In such cases, another number will be generated to substitute the effect.

    List of Events [[Natural Disaster]]
  • Volcano
    • Roll for magnitude. (85+ : Global Disaster)

    • Sub-roll for time frame given (longer time given, the less devastation it causes)
    • Roll to see how many countries are affected, and roll for "victims" (all countries are affected if "Global Disaster" occurs)

  • Tornado
    • Roll for magnitude.
    • Sub-roll for how long it lasts

        • Roll for success (1~40 fail, 41~85 reform, 86~100 success)
    • If rebellion happens that it is a success, keep in mind that you can reverse this anytime through RPing.

AWESOME Events

These will be AWESOME events that you WISH you had. Keep in mind all these are subject to changes.

    Recognition of GENIUS!!!
  • Basically, it is a free-pass for MODERN inventions or thoughts. If you are feeling unoriginal, SoC can provide you with one.
  • These are insta-upgrade. No waiting, no construction time. If you willed a satellite to be launched, somehow I'll make it justifiable.
  • Categories (these are the categories that the insta-invention will be fielded from.
    • Astronomy(Space Engineering Included)
    • Astrology(divinations... works as "get out of jail free" card for future disaster)
    • Physics(creation of prevention against natural disasters EXCEPT pandemic)
    • Engineering(basically any "hard" technology and structures are insta-concepted)
    • Biology(new medicine or prevention for pandemic)
    • Chemistry
    • Computerized(softwares, IT, etc.)
    • Mad Scientist(ANY invention or prevention of your choice.)
    • Religion(helps with insta-conversion of anywhere... I can think of few countries that will LOVE this.)
    • Politics(global influence and leadership instantly achieved)
    • Military(I don't like to put it this way, but basically awesome tactician creating your strategies)

    Recognition of FAME!!!
  • You guys will LOVE this... basically increase to certain part of your economy.
  • This is PERMANENT increase to % of your budget or GDP. Keep in mind, though, that these CANNOT BE CONVERTED into your def budget under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
  • Radical Governments usually censor these crap. Meaning that these nations will have tendency to prevent this even from happening. (decided by government types... the most unusual the country is from democracy, the more radical it is)
  • At the same time, these radical nations also find some crazy ways to abuse their talented... meaning that if you do get the boost, they are much greater than normal country's.
  • Stacking of Values ends at 4 times... meaning that democratic countries can only go up to 2% increase in any fields Radical countries only get 2 stacks. But good luck getting that. I will make an exception and say that "Ruler Gains Fame" can be stacked 6 times, for grand total of 3% stack. So Democratic countries can TECHNICALLY get up to 5% stack on any budget.
  • [<oddes> +<new boost>]
    • Famous Singer (+.5 Commerce%) [1/15 , +5%]
    • Famous Writer (+.5 Education%) [1/15 , +3%]
    • Famous Speaker (+.5 Social Welfare%) [1/30 , +5%]

    • Ruler Gains Fame (+.5% For Ruler's Interest... NO GDP) [NO PENALTY]
    • Famous Celebrity (+.5 Environment%) [1/30 , +2%]
    • Famous Merchant (+1% to GDP) [1/100 , +5%]
    • Famous Philosopher (+.5 Law and order%) [1/50 +5%]
    • Famous Volunteer (+.5 Healthcare%) [NO PENALTY]

    NEW RESOURCES!!! !!! !!!
  • YES I AM GIVING AWAY RESOURCES.
  • Given, I'm being realistic. Regional variations will matter
  • Arctic&Sub-Arctic: ignore 17~23
  • Temperate: ignore 19~23 (Also include deserts)
  • Sub-Tropic: ignore 23
  • Tropic: Include all
    • 1. Aluminum
    • 2. Platinum
    • 3. Petroleum
    • 4. Gold
    • 5. Silver
    • 6. Copper
    • 7. Iron
    • 8. Titanium
    • 9. Uranium
    • 10. Beryl
    • 11. Diamond
    • 12. Marble
    • 13. Corundum
    • 14. Nickel
    • 15. Obsidian
    • 16. Chrome
    • 17. Rare Earth Metals (NEW RESOURCE, VERY CRUCIAL for modern technology)
    • 18. Timber
    • 19. Rubber
    • 20. Sugar
    • 21. Tobacco
    • 22. Silk
    • 23. Rain Forest (contains timber, CRUCIAL for medical development. Could be cleared for ANY other resources)

[[Until I get a solid read on maps, the new resources will be closed off. I hope to bring this back soon ^^]]

Alight, the Crap is currently TOTALLY under construction... and in BETA phase... I'll solve crap as I go... so...

The numbers are from... 1~100 atm.

1~50 is Nothing (too bad, so sad... Sad )
51~70 Natural Disaster
71~90 Man-Made Disaster
91~93 Recognition of Genius
94~96 Recognition of Fame
97~99 New Resources

100 Be the SoC for a day!

...Yes, 100 is a curse.

But in case you get it and you don't say "Fudge it! I'm not torturing myself!!!" you can TG me the specifics and I'll get it into motion. Edit or addition to laws you always wanted? I'll bite.

Legacy of Victims

As you see in the corner of the battered room, you see a small list.
The wall seems to be itched from charcoal, and the last on the list seems to be your nation... and doom that awaits.

I'd disagree. Our current system works fine. Besides, why do we need more than one governing position when we have 4 active RPers?

I think that the system is necessary (at least temporary one) so we can start recruiting. We need a recruiter and census taker... the major role of other two jobs besides SoC. I mean... I would do my share of recruiting, but we need some1 in charge to get the job done.

Point 1: Wanna bring back the wheel?

Point 2: We should reestablish the system we had in the last Tiberiam where the initial characteristics of the Tiberiam nations were representative of the world. That actually gives us a pretty good spectrum in sixths.

Communist (obviously led by Lenyo)
Market Socialist (Fidel)
Regulated market (KingIsaac)
Neoliberalism slashing and burning a virgin country (Civa)
Established capitalist (AF, probably)
The worst form of capitalism (Osc)

And our first roll is... 85! Looks like someone is getting a man-made disaster.

Roll #2 is... 28. It's a strike! I like this already.

Next is... 77. Three metropolises are affected. And who wins this wonderful dilemma? The roll is 1. Some NPC. Oh, OK. Who wants to invent a country, then a strike?

Industrial. And since I read global news about strikes all the time, I should probably do this. I can plagiarize freely from history. Someone name an NPC and give me a very basic idea of its politics and economics. Otherwise I could have it affect the HESS, which I'd like to be a minor communist nation in this RP universe.

Oh, now i feel stupid.

How about established capitalism: The Enclave of Norai. A small but successful capitalism that has been surrounded by the communist bloc for some time.

It has managed to scratch out a living with a rich exporting sector to the nearby communist regimes, but suffers from illegal immigration. Despite it's past successes Norai may be on the verge of falling to capitalism within the next decade without outside support.

They have a thriving electronic industry, making many of the cheaper computer and phone parts in the region.

Alright... I think I am up for this again...

The only problem would be resources, since the map hasn't been updated in forever... or so I think. So until the Cartographer has fully updated the map for me.

Of course, I will wholly LOVE the "some NPC" idea of the victims. That sounds too epic to be true ^^. I will also be waiting for about a week (think I done that before) for someone to accept this.

Oh and lastly... even for positive events you must RP for it. EVERY event must be RPed. And like I said before, you can default on it (one week of ignoring it) or you can decide to not take the event if it sounds or looks too bad for you. However, those will stack and I'll keep note of that. I'll not be happy if you decide to stack only + events while ignoring all the - events. Of course... I am also going to keep an eye for those who only get - events. In fact, I'm planning on keeping a running tally when this starts. That way, I can be more than willing to "tweak" the numbers if people just tends to run into series of misfortune.

... so... when should we start this? I am willing and ready, and all it takes is to tweak some numbers around. The Beta system works fine as long as people accept it as is, but I would expect that no one would really like massive natural disaster, would they?
